from 30 Proposals for a Picnic Area on a Hill for the Decordova Museum 1992
commissioned by The Decordova Museum, Lincoln, Massachusettes
1992
I was asked by the DeCordova Museum to build a site specific sculpture . Because they encouraged picnicking after their outdoor concert series I proposed that I would construct a picnic area. I intentionally chose a hilly site, one not typically conducive to eating and sitting on. I made 30 proposals, many of which explore the relationship between the requirement for a horizontal table and the existing slope.
